Who are the Friends?

Friends of Playa Vista School (FPVS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded and run by Playa Vista Elementary parents who believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. We bring our community together through fundraising, events, and programs that enrich the experience of every student, teacher, staff member, and family.

With the support of parents and community partners, we fund the programs, resources, and experiences that go beyond what LAUSD provides to help our children learn, grow, and flourish. Every dollar raised directly supports Playa Vista Elementary, and all donations are tax-deductible.

The Annual Fund 2026-27

Annual Fund

FPVS augments the basic funding from LAUSD to create a dynamic, engaging, and equitable learning environment. Parent contributions directly fund critical programs and resources that should be standard in every public school: music and art instruction, physical education, technology, teacher aides, safety personnel, and more.

PVES is a diverse neighborhood public school featuring a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum, with a track record of fostering a vibrant, inclusive learning environment. These achievements are made possible through the dedication of our educators and the support of our families and community partners who believe in the power of a high quality public education.

Interested in Volunteering at PVES?

We appreciate and value our parent volunteers here at PVES. Here are the steps required for all PVES volunteers:

  • Complete a LAUSD volunteer application at the start of each school year. The application can be found HERE.
  • Volunteers must have a valid T.B. clearance certificate from their doctor. This must be renewed every four years.
  • Sign a Confidentiality Agreement at the start of each school year.
  • Attend a Volunteer Training meeting. This is required when you first begin to volunteer, and needs to be renewed the same year that your T.B. clearance is renewed. Volunteer Training dates and times can be found on our school calendar.
